Welcome to Eschlkam!

Eschlkam, situated about 500 m above sea level, is the oldest historically known settlement between Bavaria and Bohemia.

Eschlkam was the fortified economic centre of the Hohenbogenwinkel. Trade with Bohemia and its fortifications gave the market town its character.

Even today, the history of the village is reflected in its characteristic view; the houses are grouped around the massive parish church on a towering hill as if seeking protection.

The wonderful location of Eschlkam was already described by the writer Maximilian Schmidt, called "der Waldschmidt", who was born here, in his famous books.

In the picturesque and charming holiday resort of Eschlkam in the Nature Park Upper Bavarian Forest in the holiday region of Furth im Wald Hohen-Bogen-Winkel, with its old communities of Warzenried, Stachesried, Großaign, Kleinaign and Schwarzenberg, directly on the Bavarian-Bohemian border (border crossing Eschlkam/Vseruby), the holiday guest can expect countless possibilities.

In addition to swimming in the natural pools, fishing, bowling, horseback riding, tennis and curling, there are opportunities for extended hikes in the wooded surroundings and excursions in the Bavarian-Bohemian border region.

At a distance of 6 kilometres you will find an 18-hole golf course.

The "Schwirzer - Denkmal " in Neuaign near the border to Bohemia reminds of the Schwirzer, smugglers or Pascher as they were called.

The preservation of traditional customs and traditions is very important here. Various events such as guest welcomes with slide shows in the months of July / August, hiking programme for spring, summer and autumn, Bavarian-Bohemian week with cultural and leisure programme, Christmas markets in Eschlkam and Stachesried, Martini ride in Warzenried, entertainment evenings, theatre performances, Jakobimarkt festival in July and various forest and garden festivals in July / August contribute to the guest service.
