Circular hike in the footsteps of Schellen-Ursli

From Guarda, the route continues eastwards towards Bos-cha. While the craggy walls of the Lower Engadin Dolomites stand out in the background, you can see the Munt d'Ardez and Alp Murtera hill on the left above Bos-cha, where the summer scenes of the film were shot. The tour leads directly from Bos-cha to the next village, Ardez, at the foot of the Steinsberg castle hill. In the distance you can see the majestic Tarasp Castle in front of the peaks of Piz Ajüz, Piz Lischana, Piz San Jon and the Pisoc group.

The route crosses Ardez directly and soon crosses the Inn at the bottom of the valley. Initially shady, a longer ascent to Sur En d'Ardez follows. Here you can enjoy the idyllic village, which was the most important filming location for the movie, as well as the panoramic view from Guarda over Bos-cha to Ardez.

At the western end of the village, the tour continues alternately over clearings and through the forest to opposite or below Giarsun. Cross the bridge to reach this hamlet of Guarda, where the church scenes were filmed. The church is open and invites you to take a short break before tackling the last steep climb from Giarsun to Guarda. Alternatively, you can continue to the train station and take the Postbus up to Guarda from there.

The tour was evaluated in favorable weather conditions, the current weather conditions and weather forecasts must be observed before the start of the tour. This hike requires elementary alpine experience, orientation skills and hiking boots are recommended.

"High up in the mountains, far from here" is the vague description of the place in the children's book Schellen-Ursli. The circular hike starts right here, in Guarda. The place where the story of Schellen-Ursli originated is idyllically situated on a sun-drenched terrace far above the River Inn at around 1650 m above sea level. M. in the middle of the Lower Engadine mountains. This is where the author Selina Chönz lived and where the illustrator Alois Carigiet spent his vacations and drew inspiration for his famous children's book over 60 years ago. Today Guarda is known far and wide as the village of Schellen-Ursli and offers a whole range of adventure tips in connection with the children's book and cinema hero. The hike over the Lai Raduond to the Chamanna Cler is a little more challenging but also very attractive. It leads to the most important filming locations of the summer scenes from the movie Schellen-Ursli.
