Whether you visit this landmark of Vienna and the Vienna Prater in the footsteps of the "Third Man", or simply want to enjoy the view of the city from a height of 64.75 metres - only when you have ridden the Ferris Wheel have you really been in Vienna!

The whole year round opened Riesenrad is one of the most visited sights of the Danube metropolis. In 2008 the "Riesenradplatz" was redesigned. Now this entrance area to the Wurstelprater presents itself as a nostalgic world of experience, reminiscent of the Prater in 1900.

Thus, the traditional Stadtgasthaus Eisvogel has returned to the Prater and offers award-winning Viennese cuisine. After the first opening in 1805, the inn with its dignified, sophisticated menu gradually rose to become a Viennese institution. Even today, the chefs still hold on to the qualities of yesteryear. The menu includes the classic Wiener Schnitzel as well as the imaginative Germknödel. The down-to-earth dishes are brought to the plate creatively and with a good portion of "Wiener Schmäh".

At Madame Tussauds visitors can meet celebrities from all over the world up close: from Arnold Schwarzenegger to Falco, Empress Elisabeth and Gustav Klimt to Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman.

An attractive world of experience...
Today, the Ferris wheel offers an attractive world of experience: At the entrance area a "panorama" tells the story of the monumental steel wheel and the city of Vienna - by means of nostalgic installations that pass by you in Giant Ferris Wheel wagons.

In the Giant Ferris Wheel shop you can purchase fine Viennese porcelain and crystal, Giant Ferris Wheel models and high-quality textiles in the Giant Ferris Wheel look. Culinary delights are provided by a café-restaurant, which spoils you with Viennese specialities in a cosy atmosphere.

The Giant Ferris Wheel was built in 1896/97 by the English engineer Walter Basset and was not unique at that time: Basset had also built such panorama wheels - a public hit at the end of the 19th century - in Chicago, London, Blackpool and Paris.
