The "Gertrude Stöhr" enamel museum is located in the Fischerturm, a former defense tower of the palace complex, near the Laudach.

It contains exclusively enamel and embossed works by the Vorchdorf artist Gertrude Stöhr (1915-1984), who had her studio in Vienna and was a master of the most diverse, often very difficult enamel techniques. Her valuable, mostly sacred works can be found in many Austrian churches, but have also found their way all over the world, especially in the USA.

220 pictures, bowls, brooches, pendants, etc. are in the Enamel Museum, which was set up by the artist herself.

Enamel is a type of molten glass that is colored with various metal oxides. The colors are very intense and their luminosity lasts practically indefinitely. They can be applied to the metal substrate between metal bars (cell enamel) in etched pits (pit enamel) or painted (male enamel).

The enamel powder is briefly burnt at 800 - 900 degrees. Enamel can be opaque (opaque) or transparent (see through). The use of different types and techniques of enamel creates very expressive images, often hard and rich in contrast, but also soft and flowing.
