Cross-country skiing in the Hochschwarzwald/ Black Forest of Germany
In the Hochschwarzwald/ Black Forest every day over 300 km of tracks are groomed by more than 22 tracking machines. A paradise for skiers and skaters.
In addition to small round trails and challenging mountain trails, there are the long Cross-country trails Schonach/ Ballon (100 km) and the trail Hinterzarten/ Schluchsee (35 km) is leading right through the Hochschwarzwald/ Black Forest. Once a year the traditional "backpack run" is also held here.
The entire trail network has been certified by the German Ski Federation (DSV) and standardized. Most cross-country trails are groomed for classic and skating. Several ski houses and shelters are available to skiers on the go.
